These days children are being exploited all across our nation and it is happening here in our own back yard. Child exploitation is a billion dollar industry that needs to be addressed. Communities are misinformed and unaware of the danger children encounter by predators in their communities. This workshop will inform parents, caregivers, teachers and all who attend on the signs to look for when a child is being trafficked, how to protect your child from being exploited and what you can do about domestic human trafficking. The Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force (LBHTTF) is a multi-sector, victim-centered collaborative that identifies, rescues and empowers survivors and assists in the prosecution oftraffickers. Joanna Concepcion serves as the Executive Director of the Filipino Migrant Center, a non-profit organization serving and organizing low-income Filipino families throughout Southern California. A first-generation immigrant, she moved to the United States from the Philippines at the age of twelve with her two younger siblings. She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz where she earned her Bachelor Degrees in Philosophy and Feminist Studies.
